The team won the game but 3 defenders, including the injured JOK, will be lighter in the wallet
The Cleveland Browns got a huge victory in Week 8 of the 20224 NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens. While it is still a huge uphill battle, the Browns now have a small chance to make something happen this season due to the weak AFC. An unlikely chase for a playoff race starts in Week 9 but, as always, the NFL spent all week looking back at Week 8.
While there were a lot of positives for the Browns versus the Ravens, the team lost LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to a scary neck injury. JOK was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a lot of uncertainty about the rest of the year.
Unfortunately for Owusu-Koramoah, that bad news didn’t stop there as he was one of three Cleveland defenders to be fined for plays Sunday versus Baltimore:
No fines for Ravens from Browns game last Sun.
Browns get 3: Mohamoud Diabate gets $5,130 fine for facemask on Zay Flowers.
JOK gets $11,817 fine for kick on Lamar Jackson. Wasn’t penalized.
Martin Emerson gets $8,012 fine for hip drop tackle on Flowers. Also wasn’t called— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) November 2, 2024
The play that led to the fine for Mohamoud Diabate was a clear facemask, as shown in our photo for this article. The plays that led to fines, but no flags, against Martin Emerson and JOK can be seen here:

As a second-round pick who just signed a big extension, the fine is the least of Owusu-Koramoah’s concerns right now. Emerson, a third-round selection, and Diabate, an undrafted free agent, are a little more impacted by the fines.
