Will Patrick Mahomes bring the the Chiefs another Super Bowl appearance?
The AFC Championship today features another storied match between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. The game begins at 6:30 pm ET and will air on CBS, with Tony Romo and Jim Nantz calling the action. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chiefs are 1.5 point favorites over the Bills.
Storied Rivalry
The AFC featured more of the game we came to expect. It’s the first time they’ve played in the AFC Championship since 2020, but they played in the Divisional round in 2021 and 2023, with the Chiefs getting the upper hand each time in closely-contested battles.
The Chiefs were 15-2 during the regular season, but we’re not counting the Week 18 loss they had in which they didn’t care. Therefore, the only loss they really had during the regular season came against Buffalo (but it was in Buffalo), as the Bills won 30-21. In that game, QB Patrick Mahomes threw an early interception for the Chiefs. And then late, the Bills went for it on 4th-and-2 from the 26 yard line, and Allen ran for a 26-yard touchdown to seal the victory.
Prediction
The Chiefs’ success this season has been a mix of very found, fundamental defensive play, and then QB Patrick Mahomes making enough clutch plays. This game can obviously go either way, but with how good the Bills have consistently been over the years, QB Josh Allen deserves his time to shine on the biggest stage. Bills 27, Chiefs 20
