Pierre Strong exploded for 41 yards on this screen pass in week eight
The Cleveland Browns are heading into training camp soon so it seems like a good time to continue going back and highlighting some of the plays that made last season so special.
Though the 2023 season was filled with hundreds of great plays on both sides of the ball, there are quite a few memorable ones that we’ll be breaking down in our “Season Rewind” series.
In this installment of the Browns 2023 Season Rewind, we’re going to break down Pierre Strongs’s long screen play gain against the Seattle Seahawks in week eight.

The Browns lined up in a condensed formation to ensure that the defense would be bunched up in the middle of the field, which naturally makes it harder to defend an exterior play.
Once the ball was snapped Joel Bitonio, Ethan Pocic, and Wyatt Teller all pass-blocked for one to two seconds before releasing outside in order to block downfield. Pierre Strong took a fake handoff before drifting out to the flat behind the offensive linemen. Once P.J. Walker drifted backward and tossed the ball to Strong, he was off to the races.
This 41-yard scamper by Strong was much needed in terms of overall offensive momentum at this point in the game.
These types of plays were extremely effective in 2023 for this Browns offense. Though Ken Dorsey was added in the offseason as offensive coordinator and he’s not necessarily “known” for screen-type plays, it’s safe to say that these elements will continue to be utilized as long as Kevin Stefanski is the head coach in Cleveland.
