The Browns are bringing in the University of Colorado quarterback for a Top-30 pre-draft visit, making them the first stop on his tour leading up to the 2025 NFL draft. This comes after the two sides have already met at the East-West Shrine Bowl.
Sanders, regarded as one of the top two quarterback prospects alongside Miami’s Cam Ward, confirmed the visit in a video produced by Well Off Media, a company run by his brother, Deion Sanders Jr.
In the video, a University of Colorado trainer asks Sanders when his visits begin and where his first stop will be. Sanders replies that the Browns are first up on his schedule.
The ties between Sanders and Cleveland run deeper than just this visit. His father, Deion Sanders, has already spoken with the Browns about his son. Additionally, the team recently hired Bill Musgrave, Deion’s former Super Bowl teammate, as quarterbacks coach. The connections are stacking up.
Sanders isn’t just a high-profile name on-field production backs up the hype. He holds the FBS record for career completion percentage at 71.8 percent, showcasing his elite accuracy and decision-making. His skill set fits the mold of a modern pocket passer, combining efficiency, poise, and smooth mechanics.
His advanced accuracy even holds up against the quarterback prospects that have come out of college over the previous three years. Of this group, he ranks second in Weighted On-Target Percentage at 73.26 percent, only one percentage point behind Offensive Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels.
The Deshaun Watson experiment has been a disaster, leaving the Browns in need of a long-term solution under center. While Watson likely remains on the roster, for 2025, insurance policies on his contract may pave a path to releasing him before his contract expires with little financial punishment for the Browns.
With the franchise in flux, Cleveland’s interest in Sanders makes sense.
The Browns have a rare opportunity to secure their franchise quarterback by holding the second overall pick in this year’s draft. If their interest in Shedeur Sanders is real, they could reset the position and move on from the Watson era in one bold move.
