The Browns roster continues to see changes as Week 8 versus the Ravens looms
The Cleveland Browns head into Week 8 of the 2024 NFL regular season with a 1-6 record, a new quarterback, a new offensive play caller and… still most of the hope coming from next year’s NFL draft.
During Wednesday media time, HC Kevin Stefanski announced that Ken Dorsey would be taking over play calls and confirmed that Jameis Winston would be the Browns starting quarterback this week. Stefanski also provided a couple of interesting injury updates.
OL Wyatt Teller has been designated for return from injured reserve and could play this week. Stefanski did not expect Teller to need a ramp-up period. Cleveland’s head coach also noted that RB Nyheim Hines, signed this offseason to a one-year deal, would not be activated from the NFI list which officially ends his season with the Browns without him seeing the field.
Teams are limited to bringing eight players back from lists during the season. With Cleveland already bringing back a ton of players, it is possible keeping Hines out for the year is due to limited numbers more than anything unless the running back/receiver had a setback during practice.
Stefanski also noted that QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson would practice and not need a procedure on his finger.
Five players were listed by the team as not expected to practice on Wednesday as preparations for Week 8 versus the Baltimore Ravens begin:
- OT Jedrick Wills – Knee
- OL Ethan Pocic – Knee
- RB Jerome Ford – Hamstring
- LB Jordan Hicks – Elbow, triceps
- S Ronnie Hickman – Ankle
We will have the first injury report of the week later this afternoon.
