QB rumor mill hit another change Friday night with Jameis Winston’s new home
The NFL’s quarterback market has been a strange one this offseason. At least six teams opened the offseason with a need for a starting quarterback either through NFL free agency or the NFL draft. QB Geno Smith filled the need for the Las Vegas Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks, after trading away Smith, signed Sam Darnold to take over their starting spot.
Then the rumor mill flew with visits, reports about what teams and QBs were interested in who and the Kirk Cousins situation got some clarity but not final clarity.
For the Cleveland Browns, Jameis Winston was not going to return but might play a role in what could happen to his former team. Friday night, Winston reportedly agreed to a deal with the New York Giants:

With Winston signing in New York, it most likely takes them out of the market for Russell Wilson, who visited with the Browns and Giants recently. Aaron Rodgers spent a few hours with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, Wilson’s former team that could be interested in a reunion if Rodgers falls through.
In 12 games for Cleveland in 2024, Winston threw for over 2,100 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. With a 2-5 record as a starter, the charismatic Winston was benched late in the season as turnovers continued to be a problem.
With New York locking up their veteran quarterback and Rodgers expected to join the Steelers, the Browns could sign Wilson or play the waiting game with Cousins.
How do you feel about Winston’s one season with the Browns? Do you think Cleveland signs Wilson soon or now tries to wait out the Cousins situation?
