Cleveland defensive end picks up Defensive Player of the Week Award after big night against the Steelers.
The Cleveland Browns got a jump on the rest of the league last week with a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night.
The same was true for defensive end Myles Garrett, who had five tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble to help the Browns pick up their fifth win in their last seven home meetings against the Steelers.

Garrett had to wait until Week 12 concluded, with the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers facing off on Monday night, to see if anyone could top his defensive performance.
It turns out no one did, and on Wednesday, Garrett was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Thursday’s game was the second where Garrett had three sacks, as he also tallied three against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9, making him the only player in the league with multiple games with at least three sacks. It also upped his total against the Steelers to 12 sacks in 13 career games.
Garrett’s big night gives him 10 sacks on the season, making him the seventh player to have 10 or more sacks in at least seven consecutive seasons since stats became an official stat in 1982. He is just the fourth player to have double-digit sacks in at least seven of his first eight seasons, joining Reggie White, DeMarcus Ware, and Von Miller, according to NFL.com.

Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski took the opportunity on Wednesday to talk up the league’s best defensive player (quote via a team-provided transcript):
“I think, and I made this point the other day, what he’s able to accomplish with the amount of attention that he gets is truly impressive. It’s like a degree of difficulty type thing. So, for him to produce when they’re trying everything in their power to make sure he doesn’t wreck the game is again, running out of superlatives.”
This is the fourth time in his career that Garrett has pocketed a Player of the Week award, following 2023, 2021, and 2020.
