Cleveland DE is the youngest player to collect 100 career sacks since stat became official in 1982.
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett pocketed the first sack of his NFL career on the defensive first snap of his rookie season.
Seven years and 114 games later, Garrett hit the century mark when he sacked Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Bengals. It was Garrett’s ninth career sack against Burrow, the most against any quarterback on his sack list.
Garrett now has 100.5 sacks as he continues to widen his lead at the top of the franchise’s all-time list for sacks, which became an official stat in 1982.

He also joins some quality company as he tied Hall of Famers Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor as the fourth fastest to reach 100 career sacks. Garrett does stand alone, however, as the first player to reach the century mark before turning 29 years old.
Garrett has 12 sacks on the season, his fifth consecutive season with double-digit sacks, which only Taylor previously accomplished.
When that was pointed out after the game, Garrett highlighted another key area that made Taylor stand out beyond just sacks (quote via Browns Zone):
“That’s great company to be with. Definitely one of the guys looked up to, as an athlete, as a football player coming up along my way, and still watch clips and watch his tenacity against the edge and all that. So that’s a nice accomplishment. But we remember LT because he won, he did all those things, and I want to get to winning.”

Finally, Garrett is the fifth player since 1982 with at least 100 sacks in his first eight seasons, joining Reggie White, DeMarcus Ware, Jared Allen, and T.J. Watt on the list.
Smith is the official leader in career sacks with 200. At his current pace of .8739 sacks per game, Garrett would need a little more than six-and-half-seasons to surpass Smith.
Whether or not that happens with him still playing for the Browns, given his comments last week about needing to see a plan in place for winning, remains to be seen.
