The Cleveland Browns have found their new offensive coordinator, promoting tight ends coach Tommy Rees.
After just one season with the team, Rees made his impression on not only the Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski but also consultant Mike Vrabel as well. There were rumors that Vrabel was going to attempt to poach Rees as his offensive coordinator, but the Browns jumped first.
Spending the 2024 season as the tight ends coach, that position coach also has been known as the secondary quarterbacks coach given the small nature of their room. The Browns have typically cast the offensive coordinator with coaching quarterbacks, so expect that duty to fall onto Rees’ lap in 2025.
The question of who will call plays is still in the question as Rees has experience calling the offense for both Notre Dame and Alabama at the college level. The Browns stayed tight-lipped about that an offseason ago, so it may be a bit before we get that answer.
