At least for another week, the Browns talk will include playoff seeding and NFL draft positioning
Coming off an impressive, exciting win in Week 8, the Cleveland Browns find themselves at an interesting crossroads. If the Browns can win in Week 9, the NFL trade deadline could look significantly different. As it is, Cleveland would be sellers with a few interesting names rumored and seen as possible trade candidates.
At least for this week, where the Browns playoff hopes are actually alive due to a weak AFC, fans can have eyes in two directions. The playoffs at least have to be monitored while the NFL draft is the more likely priority.
The Browns NFL draft position moved down a little bit after the Week 8 victory but still remained in the top 10:
- Carolina Panthers
- Tennessee Titans
- New England Patriots
- New York Jets
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- New Orleans Saints
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Cleveland Browns
- Miami Dolphins
- New York Giants
The Panthers and Titans have just one victory while the rest of the top 10 all have two. Last week the Browns were slotted into the third pick which led to a very offense-heavy NFL Mock Draft.
In many ways, Week 9 is an inflection point in the season for Cleveland. A win at home pushes NFL draft talk to the back burner and puts the Browns future in their grip. A tough schedule, Jameis Winston’s up-and-down history and injuries make the postseason unlikely but still fun.
At least for this week, we can discuss a top-10 pick and playoff hopes.
Do you think it will benefit the Browns to lose for NFL draft positioning now that they are just 2-6?
