Defensive tackle Shelby Harris hits injured reserve with an elbow injury.
The Cleveland Browns lost another defensive player on Thursday when the team placed defensive tackle Shelby Harris on the injured reserve list.
Harris has been dealing with an elbow injury that led to him being a gameday inactive last week in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. With today’s move, Harris’ second season with the Browns comes to an early close.
In 14 games this season, Harris had 27 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble as part of Cleveland’s defensive tackle rotation. Heading into the game against the Bengals, Harris was ranked No. 39 overall out of 214 qualifying defensive linemen by Pro Football Focus, and No. 23 against the run.

The Browns re-signed Harris in the offseason to a two-year contract, but with no guaranteed money in the deal for 2025, Harris may have played his final game with the Browns.
To fill Harris’ roster spot the Browns signed wide receiver James Proche II to the active roster from the practice squad. Proche has been active for seven games this season, playing mostly on special teams. He has 18 punt returns for an average of 9.1 yards per return, and three receptions for 21 yards.
To round out the day’s transactions, the Browns signed defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour to the practice squad. The 6-foot-1 and 296-pound Dwumfour was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets in 2021. Since then he has played in 12 career games between the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers. He also spent training camp with the Browns in 2023 but has yet to appear in a regular-season game with Cleveland.
The Browns now have 19 players on injured reserve.
