Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Shedeur Sanders, Carson Wentz, Cam Ward all connected to Browns rumors
Despite a number of moves, none considered big, in NFL free agency, the Cleveland Browns are no closer to solving their quarterback problem than when we released our first rumor piece of the offseason back in the middle of January. The Kenny Pickett trade might have provided the Browns with a depth option but, with a veteran team and DE Myles Garrett extended, Pickett isn’t the answer to the problem.
So far this offseason, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, Geno Smith, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders and Jalen Milroe have all been linked to Cleveland in one way or another. Not every NFL mock draft has the Browns selecting a quarterback with the second overall pick which, if Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter really are the selection, leaves the QB problem unsolved.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Cleveland’s QB options are still pretty wide open with those listed above (except for Smith and Fowler doesn’t mention Milroe):

Unsurprisingly, Fowler’s statements follow what he shared early this month. The veteran reporter also seems to rank how the Browns see the quarterbacks in free agency and the draft:
NFL free agency ranking
- Cousins
- Wilson
- Wentz
NFL draft ranking
- Ward
- Sanders
As Fowler noted, any team interested in Cousins might have to wait until the draft takes place to make a deal or even later (post-June 1st) for salary cap reasons. Unless Cleveland has an agreement in place to make the deal at that point, waiting seems like a risky move.
New statements/rumors but nothing really new as the Browns, and their fans, wait to see how the team will tackle the most important position on the field.
What do you think about what Fowler stated above and the, seeming, rankings of how the Browns see the potentially available QB?
