The Cleveland Browns are back on the wrong side of the win-loss column after a brutal defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Cleveland entered this game unprepared for the strength of the Chargers defense, who has been one of the NFL’s best in the last month. New offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey had an electric debut against the rival Baltimore Ravens, but could not overcome the shaky performance of his quarterback. Browns quarterback Jameis Winston managed to throw three interceptions that were all very costly to Cleveland’s offensive momentum. This allowed the Chargers to also zone in on the rushing attack and limit Nick Chubb’s progress past the line of scrimmage.
Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and his defense also had a rough day on the field. The secondary appeared to lack communication and coverage responsibility on two of the biggest plays for the Chargers offense that resulted in touchdowns. On the defensive line, it was a dominant effort that wasn’t anywhere close to being enough for this team to secure a victory. Despite the loss, some very talented players have proven they have a role in the future of the team.
Let’s take a look at the Cleveland Browns position grades for their Week 9 result against the Chargers:
