NFL trade deadline rumors have mostly been about Za’Darius Smith but others on the Browns roster available
The Cleveland Browns are officially 2-7 after getting destroyed in Week 9 of the NFL season. The team that takes the field in two weeks, after Week 10’s bye, could look significantly different with the NFL trade deadline coming up in two days.
It seems likely that DE Za’Darius Smith is headed out of town to the Detroit Lions. Smith is not the only starter on the Browns roster that could be on his way out of town but contracts will always play a role in those decisions.
There are 20 players on Cleveland’s roster set for free agency at the end of the year. A few of them are currently on injured reserve and would not be a part of any NFL trade deadline deals:
- OL Nick Harris
- RB Nyheim Hines
- OL Hakeem Adeniji
- CB Tony Brown
- OL James Hudson III
Among the other 15 are a couple of starters and current contributors:
- QB Jameis Winston
- RB Nick Chubb
- OL Jedrick Wills
- WR Elijah Moore
- TE Jordan Akins
- DT Maurice Hurst
- LB Devin Bush
- S Rodney McLeod
- CB Mike Ford
- RB D’Onta Foreman
A couple of backups who are generally inactive or seeing only a few snaps finish off the list:
- DT Quinton Jefferson
- OL Michael Dunn
- TE Geoff Swaim
- LB Khaleke Hudson
- OL Germain Ifedi
While it is unrealistic to think the Browns would trade many players during the season, players about to enter free agency could be the most available after Smith.
Is there anyone on the list, including Winston, that you wouldn’t trade for a Day 3 pick if someone offered? Share your thoughts below
