Browns roster: Bring back starter from last year

Geron Christian started 9 games for the Browns in 2023, returns after Dawand Jones’ inury

While we mostly focus on the future for the Cleveland Browns, including whether their Monday Night Football game will be flexed out, the team has to move forward to finish out the season. The upcoming NFL draft, the Browns strategies and mock drafts will litter the landscape while Cleveland’s roster continues to see concerns and changes.

Monday, HC Kevin Stefanski once again confirmed that OT Dawand Jones will be out for the season and gave a vague update on OT Jedrick Wills. We also learned that TE Geoff Swaim would be out for Thursday Night Football and two corners are day-to-day.

With Jones out and Wills’ status up in the air, Cleveland is reportedly bringing back OT Geron Christian, according to his agents:

Christian started nine games for the Browns last year as well as the team’s playoff loss.

This offseason, the Tennessee Titans signed Christian to reunite him with OL coach Bill Callahan but released him before the start of the season. The Los Angeles Rams brought the lineman in where he bounced between their practice squad and active roster while being active for just one game.

If Wills can’t play on a short week, Germain Ifedi will likely start at left tackle with Christian as the primary backup. While Christian was with Cleveland last year, a new offense and offensive line coach means the return is not a simple plug-and-play scenario despite his starts last year.
