At this point, we simply can not know what to expect from the Cleveland Browns after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Perhaps the hatred for their rivals is enough to overpower their divisional foes because a 24-19 win over the then 8-2 Steelers is not the expected follow-up from a 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints. But in the elements, the Browns got it done on a short week and have successfully spoiled both the Steelers and Ravens in three weeks.
A few things changed from last week that made this game interesting to watch. Both tackles, Dawand Jones and Jedrick Wills, were out this week forcing the Browns to adjust on the fly on a short week with the expectation of inclement weather. If all of that wasn’t enough, they’d be facing a hot Steelers team with a direct mismatch in TJ Watt. But in a testament to quality coaching, the Browns prevailed and came up with a game plan that completely stunted the Pittsburgh pass rush, only allowing for one sack while Myles Garrett tripled that number alone.
Here are some other observations from the snap counts on Thursday night’s victory.
