London is calling the Browns in 2025 but Cleveland fans lose a home game
While all the talk is about where the Cleveland Browns will play beyond their current lease for Huntington Bank Field, the 2025 NFL season will see one less game played off the shores of Lake Erie. All last offseason we covered rumors that the Browns could be the team to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Brazil game to open the season.
With the 17-game schedule, nine home games were on the docket in 2025 so fans in orange and brown will get the traditional eight this season.
This year, we get to speculate for months about who will play against Cleveland as the NFL, prior to the start of the playoffs, that the Browns would be one of the host teams in London, England for the 2025 schedule:

Cleveland has played one international game, back in 2017, also in London when they lost to the Minnesota Vikings 33-16. In that game, QB Case Keenum (who would join the Browns down years later), RB Jerick McKinnon and WR Adam Thielen helped knock off a Cleveland squad led by QB Deshone Kizer and RB Isaiah Crowell under head coach Hue Jackson.
The team lost every game that season.
The Browns also played a preseason game in London in 1989 with QB Bernie Kosar being sent over to help market the game as a representative of Cleveland.
The Browns 2025 opponents have been decided with eight home games. It is unlikely that any of the AFC North matchups will be marked for international play which leaves six other possibilities:
- Buffalo Bills
- Green Bay Packers
- Miami Dolphins
- Minnesota Vikings
- Tennessee Titans
- San Francisco 49ers
Last year, the league had three games in London, one in Germany and one in Brazil. Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear that international expansion is an important part of the NFL’s business model.
Will you try to go to the game in London? Are you upset that the Browns won’t get the advantage to play nine home games in 2025 and have to deal with the travel related to international games?
