Breaking news just came in that the Cleveland Browns are trading kicker Cade York to the Washington Commanders for a conditional 7th-round pick.
While this was already clear, it solidifies that Dustin Hopkins is going to be Cleveland’s kicker for the upcoming season.
A kicker doesn’t matter for most until he does and this certainly comes into play. When there are seconds left on the clock and he is needed to hit a game-winner, right?
In 2022, York went 22/34 in kicking for the Browns. York had been re-signed and kicking for Cleveland throughout this current preseason while Dustin Hopkins rehabs what Kevin Stefanski described as a minor injury.
Last season, Hopkins kicked 33/36 for the Dawgs. It was a hamstring injury that concerned the team moving forward. Luckily, it appears he’ll be okay for the upcoming year.
Honestly, a 7th round pick isn’t too exciting, but who knows? Maybe it’ll turn out to be a solid pick in the future…
Best of luck to you in Washington, Cade. Except if it’s a game-winner against the Browns…Please miss.
