Well, nothing can ever go well here in Cleveland despite winning on Sunday over Jacksonville on the road, 18-13. It was confirmed that Browns wide receiver David Bell is out for the season because he dislocated his hip and needs surgery.
Bell actually already had three catches for 27 yards to begin the game before sustaining the injury. The saddest part is the amount of potential this third-year player, drafted in the third round back in 2022, had to start the year.
What does Coach think of this news?
“Very disappointing,” Stefanski said. “We’ve talked about injuries many times and they’re no fun. Nobody likes them. Particularly ones like this that can end the season. Feel badly for David. I know his teammates feel badly for him, but he will bounce back. He’s a guy that is a big part of this football team.” – Leader-Telegram
Now, is this player getting hurt going to end the season for the team contending? No, not for the Browns. Even so, it certainly won’t help the cause. Bell was a solid and fast target with good hands for Deshaun Watson to look for and that’s now gone.
Other wideouts are going to have to step up even more. Yes, Amari Cooper please stop droppingw every pass thrown your way and giving me heart attacks.
After a long recovery, Bell will have to look to try and come back for next season and stay healthy then. A dislocated hip sounds like a horrific thing to sustain and get better from.
We’ll see how all of that progresses.
Arguably the biggest part of football is being able to stay on the field. Here is an example just to begin the young man’s career and how he will be unable to play much of the third year.
After Sunday’s win, the 1-1 Browns host the 0-2 New York Giants in Cleveland this upcoming week. It’s a game, with or without Bell, this team must win.
David, wishing you a speedy recovery and I hope your pain meds make you happy. In all seriousness, get well soon and I can’t wait to see you next year!
