The variables with six games remaining are endless but a few could have a big impact on the 2025 Browns.
The Cleveland Browns returned from an extended weekend to the facility after their Thursday night win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was a night to remember in Cleveland but also served as a reminder of what could have been this season.
Despite being out of the playoff hunt (not officially), the remaining six games could serve the team in building momentum for the 2025 season. There are players to develop who will definitely be on the roster and evaluations need to be made of players who may or may not be here.
On top of these, there are coaches to evaluate and draft positions to sort out. Let’s drill down and look at the most impactful outcomes that could happen down the stretch to improve next year’s iteration of the team.
Jameis Winston continues to play at a high level
Winston could play his way into an extension and starting role with Cleveland for next year. Having an answer headed into the offseason could help prevent the Browns front office from making a desperate move.
DTR gets an opportunity and flashes talent
Thompson-Robinson playing well for a three—to four-game stretch wouldn’t necessarily mean the quarterback search is solved indefinitely, but it would provide hope for next season. Having a quarterback with multiple years left on a rookie contract would provide some cap space to spend in other areas.
Jack Conklin finishes the year strong and healthy
I could argue that Conklin’s return has become non-negotiable for the Browns next season. While Dawand Jones can be penciled in at left tackle the team will need to be aggressive in its pursuit of another young tackle to play early next year if needed.
JOK returns to play this season
There is a cloud hanging over the health status of star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. He is currently on injured reserve after suffering a neck injury against the Ravens in Week 8.
While there haven’t been any specifics released about the status of his potential return, teammates have expressed concern and rumors have circulated as a result. Getting confirmation that your blue chip defender will continue to play should return the linebacker room to a position of strength moving forward.
The Browns lose enough to earn the #1 overall draft pick
While everything has been positive to this point, having your choice of the best overall player in the upcoming draft is an advantage. Getting Travis Hunter or the top QB on your board would be a massive upgrade to your overall roster build.
