Deshaun Watson is set to take up a good chunk of the Cleveland Browns’ cap space for the 2024 season.
Per Spotrac, Watson’s $63.9 million cap hit is 25% of the 2024 salary cap.
That’s a lot of money for a quarterback who is coming off a season-ending shoulder injury. The Browns can always restructure his cap hit but right now, it’s almost $64 million.
The 2024 season will be Watson’s third season with the Browns after signing a fully guaranteed five-year $230 million contract before the 2022 season.
He had to sit out the first 11 games of that season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy after he was accused by more than 20 women of sexual misconduct.
He then played in the final six games of that season before starting the 2023 season fully healthy. He only lasted six games before he was ruled out for the rest of the year.
In those six games, he completed 61.4% of his passes for 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Watson will now look to stay healthy for this season as he tries to lead the Browns back to the playoffs.
