Well, there’s always a new story coming up with Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson each and every week.
“Legendary QB Warren Moon says Deshaun Watson is ‘struggling with mental problems on the field’ as he deals with more sexual assault allegations.”
What’s funny is that this was posted in the sense that it was some sort of magical discovery. Frankly, with all of Deshaun’s legal problems, his struggling as a quarterback for the Browns and everything else going on, it would be weird for him not to be dealing with those types of challenges.
After all, don’t we all have mental health issues?
It’s also easy to simply say “man up” and overcome said issues on your own. Hopefully, Watson is talking to the right people, taking the right pills and trying to make the best of these difficult situations he finds himself in. I know a good therapist.
However, with the money he is making and the responsibility he has as the quarterback of the Browns each and every game, it’s up for him to be mentally regular while playing. It can’t serve as an excuse for the well-being of the team and franchise in general.
I am a big fan of Nirvana and one of their best songs is Lithium.
It starts by saying: I’m so happy ’cause today I found my friends. They’re in my head…
The meaning is that a lot of trouble comes from thoughts and feelings internally, mentally and not with the surrounding people and issues necessarily. This is probably how Deshaun feels even in each huddle and snap. It’s just hard because it’s…hard.
The Browns are currently 1-2 after a disastrous and disappointing loss to the New York Giants at home, 21-15. Hopefully, Watson will be able to conquer those feelings in his head and become better on the field and fix the issues legally. However, as I said in a previous article, Deshaun Watson is not the entire problem for the Cleveland Browns, that’s for sure. CLICK HERE TO READ
Certainly, self-care is important for everyone whether you’re a quarterback or cashier at McDonalds. With Watson himself, to not have those issues with everything happening is not surprising nor is it the answer to this team’s problems. Certainly, a win of solid variety on Sunday in Las Vegas against the Raiders will help with a lot of it all. For Watson and us Browns fans united it could serve as a stepping-stone for the rest of this season.
