I remember. Yes, I remember. Just back on the 21st of November, the Browns beat the Steelers back in Cleveland. It was a snowy affair by a score of 24-19. Certainly, this was an exciting time. I mean, beating Pittsburgh in our own home is an incredible feeling. However, times change and that’s clear with the current circumstances.
This week, the Browns announced that Dorian Thompson-Robinson (DTR) will be the starting quarterback on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals in Cinci. No, it’s not like Jameis Winston was hurt or anything. He just was so bad at throwing too many interceptions that the Browns just wanted to give DTR a chance instead of Deshaun under center moving forward.
Well, I harken to just a few weeks ago when fans were describing how Winston was like the “Joe Flacco” of this season and the Browns should’ve started him and never played Deshaun Watson. That is quite the reach and it’s showing…
So, who is this DTR guy?
He’s 25 years old and out of UCLA, picked in 2023 by the Browns in the 5th round (140 pick). 6’2, 203 pounds – A very average quarterback with limited experience who is not going to impress anyone necessarily.
The Browns are doing this for a number of reasons which I will now describe…
-Winston has been absolutely awful at quarterback throwing multiple interceptions. It was time for a change honestly.
-The team wants to see want they have with a quarterback in DTR getting reps.
–“Tanking” to hopefully actually lose a couple more games to have a worse record for the draft. They’ll never admit this but that’s the truth deep down inside.

At 3-11 with just three more games left (@ Bengals, Vs. Miami, @ Baltimore), there truthfully isn’t much to play for. After all, playoff implications were eliminated weeks ago. Thus, I’m completely okay with going to DTR as the quarterback for all of the reasons listed above. The worst case is seeing that DTR is actually terrible with the chances he gets and the franchise will have to do some thinking about him in this regard come the offseason.
Everyone was hoping for a better year all around, from Watson to Winston and now DTR, it has been an ugly one on all fronts. It’s time to survive the final couple of weeks and just put this one behind us all, moving forward towards the future. It will certainly be interesting to see how the franchise changes this offseason for the 2025 year. For now, let’s try and enjoy DTR as quarterback for these final weeks…just…just…just as best we can…
