Five-time Pro Bowler defensive end Myles Garrett may request a trade after his injury. According to a report, the veteran is questionable to return from an eye injury he got late in the second quarter, following Patrick Mahomes finding tight end Noah Gray in the endzone for a score. The free agency may be months away, but the regular season will end soon so it shouldn’t be surprising if several star players like Garrett start teasing the departure. Even though Deshaun Watson will come back next season as the Browns starter again, there’s no guarantee that Garrett would want to stay for the remainder of his contract through 2027.
Originally selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the defensive end made a name for himself in the league as being one of the most ferocious pass rushers despite being a part of a mediocre roster all his NFL career. He gave the Browns a fighting chance in the postseason in 2020 and 2023, earning All-Pro nods in those years. However, a weak supporting cast and the Browns letting go of Baker Mayfield might not be the best position for Garrett who wants to win a championship sooner rather than later. Garrett is arguably heading into his prime years, so it should be no surprise if he lets the team know he wants to explore other options this upcoming offseason after this season.
As long as he stays healthy and puts on a strong outing the rest of the year, Garrett should be able to garner interest. He was a favorite trade chip this midseason before the NFL Trade Deadline so it’s only a matter of time before the Browns grant his potential wish.

Winning in the Trenches
The Los Angeles Chargers had one of the worst starts this season but they’ve got the momentum on their side with the postseason around the corner to turn it around. Justin Herbert is finally thriving despite having several inconsistent playmakers but they have several holes to fill in their backfield. While Jim Harbaugh loves to run the ball, he might be able to achieve that this year despite J.K. Dobbins having consistently phenomenal performances. However, Dobbins and Gus Edwards are battling injuries so this may force the Chargers to rely on the defense to make plays for Herbert to give him more opportunities on the field.
The passing game is not yet dependable even though rookie Ladd McConkey and Joshua Palmer have shown a few flashes. Since Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack are on expiring contracts, it might motivate Harbaugh to look for their next star pass rusher and the Chargers should be on the top of the list of Garrett’s next possible teams. Garrett is still one of the most dangerous defensive pieces so he could fulfill the dreams of Harbaugh wanting a hard-hitting defense.
Rejuvenated Defense
Barring their winning record, it’s hard to imagine this Kansas City Chiefs will be ever the same beyond the 2024 season. The team came into this offseason signing Marquise Brown and having Rashee Rice back in the lineup before losing them to season-ending injuries. However, despite losing both of those receivers, the Chiefs are lucky to have Brown return. The Chiefs got DeAndre Hopkins in a trade in hopes of getting something explosive going but it’s been nothing short but average.
Despite that, they’re still holding this team together like duct tape with their defense. Josh Uche has been quiet since he arrived in Kansas City though. He might not return next season so the team may have some interest and trade for Myles Garrett. He could be the next superstar next to Chris Jones to finally give this defensive line balance.
