Things did not go as well for Coleman in the NFL after the Browns selected him 15th overall. He only played in 19 games over two seasons in Cleveland, finishing with 56 receptions for 718 yards and five touchdowns while dealing with injuries.
In August 2018, the Browns traded Coleman to the Buffalo Bills for a seventh-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. (That pick was traded to the Green Bay Packers as part of the deal to acquire guard Jordan McCray.)
The Bills waived Coleman before the start of the season. He first signed to the New England Patriots‘ practice squad and then landed with the New York Giants for eight games, during which time he had five receptions for 71 yards.
Coleman spent 2019 on injured reserve with the Giants, re-signed with the Giants as a free agent in 2020, and was released in November of that year. He resurfaced for a brief time with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 but never posted any stats.
He spent 2023 with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL, earning a spot on the All-USFL offensive team after leading the league in receptions and receiving yards.
Coleman was drafted by the Michigan Panthers for the 2024 season but was waived soon after and announced his retirement in April of 2024.
