The Browns picked their second quarterback of the 2025 NFL Draft and it’s arguably the most high profile one. Time to grade the Shedeur Sanders pick.
The Cleveland Browns ended Shedeur Sanders’ slide down the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. The team used their fifth round pick at No. 144 overall to pick the Colorado quarterback. The Browns picked Dillon Gabriel on Friday and will bring two notable rookies into their draft room this summer.
Draft grades are starting to come in and it is not surprising people love the pick. Opinions vary wildly on Sanders, but when you can land him in the fifth round, it’s hard not to love the value. Even if he wasn’t worth a pick on the first day or even early on the second day, getting him on the third day speaks volumes.
Below you can check out media draft grades and also submit your own grade in the poll.
USA Today: A+
The player many had thought Cleveland would take at the top of Round 2 at the top of Round 5. Cleveland traded up to secure him over other teams in the coming picks. Sanders could be a rookie starter to stabilize the franchise now armed with two first-round picks in 2026. At best, they have a quarterback of the future. At worst, they got him at a very low price.
CBS Sports: A+
The excruciatingly long wait is over. At this point, the value was simply far too good for the Browns to pass on this thrower. Sanders is a pocket quarterback who wins with anticipation and great, not elite, accuracy. Pocket navigation skill is mostly a plus. Cautious decision-maker. His arm strength is solid and he has problems eluding pressure in the pocket because of heavy feet. Love this opportunity for Sanders.
