The 2-8 Cleveland Browns are heading into a Thursday night matchup against the 8-2 Pittsburgh Steelers in Cleveland at Huntington Bank Field. This coming after an absolutely dreadful loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday by a score of 35-14. The wildest part of that game was score was tied at 14 at one point early one. 21 unanswered to close that affair.
It’s clear that the Browns don’t have “it” and “it” can be easily defined by looking at a team like our Cleveland Cavaliers on the basketball floor. That team just has the comradery and synergy led by their head coach Kenny Atkinson.
Our Cleveland Browns have no belief at all despite actually having a substantial amount of talent and such. It shows with the 2-8 record and the consistent mistakes that are made each and every week.
Tick Tick Tick – That’s the sound of coach Stefanski’s time running out. Many believe that the Pittsburgh week may be his last chance to prove himself as head coach even if he makes it to that game. Another loss and it could be all over for him and potentially others on the coaching staff.
Personally, I have mixed feelings.
If the Browns truly have another coach in mind that they could see as a long-term future answer then making the move makes sense. Hiring an interim head coach just to finish out the year does nothing but try and make the rest of this season possible to watch.
Chatter about former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel have been out there. That would be a great pick for sure.
Well, not only is Thursday a short week affair, but it’s also against a very legit rival in a Steelers team with said 8-2 record on the year. The only bonus is that it’s a home game for the Browns.
Stefanski is in his fifth season with the Dawgs and maintains a total record of 39-38. He’s been to the playoffs twice (’20 and ’23)
The players seem lost and the drive to win and succeed is not with the club. Let’s see what comes with this Thursday night game. Hey, if the Browns come out and destroy the Steelers maybe things will be different moving forward. That’ll be quite a miracle though.
Honestly, change isn’t always bad especially when it comes to the head coach of a football team. And this idea of the drive within the franchise shows it’s clearly in need of some new leaders.
