Yeah, I’ll admit just like everyone else in Cleveland. Saw how the Bucs led by former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield won 37-20 over the Commanders. Also, thought back to the Joe Flacco days last season…and it was depressing.
Of course, the news of the latest Deshaun Watson sexual assault allegations did not help his cause after a terrible 33-17 start against the Cowboys in Week One.
Honestly, it takes an entire team to win a game and that’s the truth. Yes, a quarterback is probably the most important position, but are Browns fans being honest with themselves?
Did you watch the game and see just how terrible the offensive line was? How wide receivers drop passes? How the defense gave up 33 points!?

Yes, Watson sucked at quarterback.
Yes, yet another allegation is absolutely terrible.
Yes, his contract continues to be one of the worst in history.

But, let’s first of all remind everyone…
Where are Baker Mayfield’s Super Bowls? He wasn’t that great in Cleveland and that’s why the team moved on. You all are acting like he is a complete legend like a Tom Brady that was announcing Sunday.
Also, the Joe Flacco run was great and I enjoyed it just like the rest of you. But, remember what happened at the end of that season? A 45-14 beatdown from the Texans in the Wild Card. AKA a failure, sorry to admit.
Are these two quarterbacks better options than Deshaun Watson right now?
Certainly…right now and at that position.
But it’s not like if they were magically under center that this season would be a guarteed Super Bowl or close for that matter. There’s a lot more work in a lot of different places that have to make everything better.
Don’t take this as me defending Deshaun Watson.
He sucked on Sunday and needs to stay out of trouble. It’s just the idea that a change at one position would make everything magically amazing in a lot of people’s minds. And that isn’t the case by any means.
What’s the classic saying? “Either we win as a team or die as individuals.” Everyone needs to perform from top to bottom and it’s not just the quarterback and his troubles that’ll make this season and beyond successful.
Getting a chance to play in the wild-card game is great, but ultimately this franchise and its fans want that ultimate title. So stop pretending like those quarterbacks with this current roster would achieve it all.
As previously said, a lot of work is to be done on so many fronts. And it may not just be Deshaun Watson’s fault alone.
