Welcome to a Cleveland Browns Victory Friday. I have been pondering writing about last night’s Browns win most of the day and I kept walking away from the keyboard as I was not sure what direction to take when it hit me, I was being one of those people who drive me up a wall! There is only one to discuss the Browns season so far…they are winners avoiding losses that ALL their teams since 1999 would have suffered and getting a break now and then to go to 11-5 and a spot in the postseason. Lucky at times? Heck yes! Stupid at times? Certainly, but overall winners with an unlikely cast of characters.
Most of you are aware of my take on the ownership and a dastardly human that was brought on board to QB the team. That has driven my 6 decades plus fandom away and has allowed me to truly enjoy my Sundays (or Thursdays or Mondays, etc.) with a love of life I forgot existed. Proudly I had not watched or listened to a game for over one plus years until Joe Flacco came on board.
I am not a band wagon fan with my years and years of support and loyalty, but I truly was interested to see what this MVP and Super Bowl QB could do so the games were back on my TV. I saw a gentleman that was ignored by every team in the NFL needing a QB including his horrific last team which by the way beat the Browns led by Joe to start the ’22 season. Win or lose I needed to see a man’s man play the game and as an NFL fan (which also is being tested this year as the product for the most part is plain awful) I was curious what he could do on the gridiron. The answer is now plain as a sunrise over Lake Erie! He can win, win with poise, and restore dignity to the city, fanbase and team! No sordid stories of perversion, no court dates, no bribe money to silence accusers only a family man who NEEDED TO PLAY AND WANTED TO PLAY the game he loves so much rescued this team from another disappointing season and an early trip home. BRAVO JOE FLACCO! THANK YOU, JOE FLACCO.
Talking Browns how can you not mention a few other stories including the NFL Coach of the Year, Kevin Stefanski! Another unfair whipping boy for the rabble who masquerade as Browns fans powered by too much booze and ignorance, Kevin has kept the ship sailing in the open sea all year long winning with his 4th Quarterback, trying to move forward with a nonexistent running game without Nick Chubb and taking a deep breath as other teams drop sure TD’s and miss easy FG’s to take the team to 11-5!
Bottom line is the Browns are headed to the playoffs. Truly hoping that there will be a game on the Lakefront as postseason football is so special for the fans and the city.
Must finish with a shout out to the real fans. So many of you were on autopilot last night and indeed the Stadium ran out of beer in the third quarter before the cut off. Bars and restaurants were overflowing into the early hours of Friday as the Browns faithful got to finally enjoy winning. Love the economy of THE LAND benefitting from a not-too-distant detriment to good things in this great city. One last note for Joe Flacco who was looking for an all-night diner after the game and shame on the media for not having any idea where to send him…MY FRIENDS in Cleveland on Detroit just east of W. 117th is open 24/7!
As always dear friend as we head to a new year, enjoy every sandwich, please keep taking care of each other and it’s your world pay attention. For now, ADIOS AMIGO, LONG MAY YOU RUN!
