Remaking the Browns roster back to Kevin Stefanski’s offense could see tight ends added in free agency, draft
It is very clear that the Cleveland Browns biggest needs this offseason are at quarterback and figuring out what to do with DE Myles Garrett’s trade request. That doesn’t mean the Browns roster is ready to roll if they find a quarterback as there are a variety of positions, including offensive line, that need to be addressed.
As we have started profiling players for both the upcoming NFL draft and NFL free agency, it is clear that the tight end position is one that will need addressing as the team returns to Kevin Stefanski’s system. Currently, TE David Njoku is the only tight end with significant experience on Cleveland’s roster.
The good news is that this year’s NFL draft class is deep at tight end. Where normally we are talking about three or four starting-level players, the 2025 class has around double that:
The more I watch the tight end class the more I think it’s the top position group in the draft
I could easily see as many as 7 starters emerging from this class

Mike Renner goes on to share his seven, in no particular order:
- Colston Loveland, Michigan
- Tyler Warren, Penn State
- Gunnar Helm, Texas
- Elijah Arroyo, Miami
- Mason Taylor, LSU
- Harold Fannin Jr, BGSU
- Terrance Ferguson, Oregon
Mel Kiper Jr. does not have Fannin listed, surprisingly, in his Top 10 but adds:
- Jackson Hawes, Georgia Tech
- Mitchell Evans, Notre Dame
- Thomas Fidone II, Nebraska
- Luke Lachey, Iowa
With that many tight ends, it will be interesting if a few fall further than their talent suggests as teams prioritize weaker positions earlier.
With the Browns expected to have 12 draft picks, it would be surprising if they don’t leave the draft with at least one of the names above.
Do you think tight end is a top 5 need for the Browns going into 2025? Do you think the position is generally worth using an early selection on or would you prefer using those on more valuable positions?
