Analyzing DT Mason Graham as a potential draft pick for Cleveland
The Cleveland Browns need to replace a few defensive linemen this offseason and this year’s NFL Draft class is loaded with excellent options for Andrew Berry and Co. to choose from.
The Browns are expected to have three defensive linemen hit free agency once the new league year begins in March, two of them being on the interior. Though they’re currently “fine” in the defensive tackle room as far as depth goes, they could use another standout player there to help wreak havoc inside.
Mason Graham is a player who could be on the Browns’ radar heading into draft weekend due to his non-stop motor, explosive power, and violent block destruction.

What an Expert is Saying
“Graham has alignment and scheme versatility, which should help see him quickly off the board in April. He’s a capable A-gap defender but shines in the B-gap, where he can stack guards and read blocks before attacking either upfield or scrape laterally in pursuit of outside runs.
Teams that run games inside will reap the benefits of his low build and could potentially free up more penetration production as a rusher. Graham is growing in that area, but he’s not as developed as he is in the run game. Still, this is a Day 1 NFL starter.” – Kyle Crabbs, The 33rd Team
Fit with the Browns
Mason Graham is a prototypical 3-technique in Jim Schwartz’s defensive system regarding his overall skillset and athleticism. He’s exceptional against the run due to his strength and ability to shed blocks quickly and a disruptive pass rusher due to his motor and hand-fighting skills.
Graham can also play multiple spots along the interior (0, 1, 3-technique), which makes him even more of a mouth-watering prospect for Cleveland.
Browns Player Drafting Could Impact
Graham would come in and immediately compete for most of the 1st-team reps at 3-technique with Shelby Harris and Mike Hall Jr.
Priority
Medium.
