Analyzing Miami TE Elijah Arroyo as a potential draft pick for Cleveland
The Cleveland Browns need to add depth, playmaking ability, and athleticism to the tight end room in 2025, and this year’s NFL Draft class is loaded with options in multiple rounds for Andrew Berry and Co. to choose from.
The Browns are set to lose Jordan Akins, Geoff Swaim, and Blake Whiteheart in free agency next month, which isn’t the worst thing. However, Akins played a fairly large role in the offense in terms of snap count last season. For Cleveland’s offense to be at full strength in 2025 they need to have a much more effective and efficient passing game.
Miami TE Elijah Arroyo is a player who could be on the Browns’ radar heading into draft weekend due to his versatility, athletic profile, and route-running ability.

What an Expert is Saying
“Arroyo would be best served as a receiving tight end for an NFL offense that looks to attack the middle of the field vertically. Thanks to his looseness and acceleration with the football, he can also be a viable hidden option for underneath passes and screens.
He’s the kind of chess piece that can hit defenses in a lot of different ways. That said, he can continue to develop his ability as a route salesman and, particularly, as a blocker — making him a more attractive weapon by the end of his three-year window than his year one role as a rookie.” – Kyle Crabbs, The 33rd Team
Fit with the Browns
Much like David Njoku’s outlook coming out of Miami in 2017, Arroyo is a “chameleon” that can be utilized in many different ways. He’s already a fairly polished route-runner who understands how to create separation with his athleticism despite being 250+ pounds.
He can line up out wide, in the slot, in-line on the LOS, or as a wing. These facts along with both Kevin Stefanki’s and Tommy Rees’ evident affinity for the tight end position make Arroyo an exciting prospect for Cleveland.
Browns Player Drafting Could Impact
Seeing that David Njoku will be the only legitimate tight end on the roster next month when free agency begins, it doesn’t look like Arroyo’s presence would affect anyone in the building heading into the summer.
He’d technically end up competing with whatever free agent the team decides to bring in, but there’s a good chance that Arroyo would be the best TE2 option in 2025 given his overall talent and potential.
Priority
Medium.
