Titans NFL draft rumor shapes top between Cam Ward, Abdul Carter, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter
Heading into the 2025 NFL draft there are lots of things we think we know but may not. Whether that is about the Cleveland Browns offseason plans on the offensive side of the ball, who the Tennessee Titans will pick at the top of the draft or the relatively unknown upside of the draft prospects as a whole, there is a lot of mystery out there.
As the Senior Bowl practices went on throughout the week, teams, agents and reporters all got to talking which tends to start the rumor mills going. Some players stood out as expected while others came in as relative unknowns and made a strong name for themselves.
As the rumor mill starts to warm up, ESPN’s Insiders (subscriber, $) found a few interesting things that were buzzing around Mobile including a strong statement about the Titans selecting QB Cam Ward first overall:
In a draft that projects to be defined by the Cam Ward vs. Shedeur Sanders debate for QB1, the building sentiment from scouts and executives this week was Ward is likely to be the No. 1 pick. This is more anecdotal than scientific, as neither passer was in town. But Ward’s versatility and ability to run stand out as a separating traits.
This would not be the third time that Tennessee has been linked to Ward. Right after the season, it was noted that they “love” Ward, and then his coach noted they expected him to be selected first overall.
If the Titans select Ward first, as many expect, the Browns would be in a power position for a trade but would also have the following left on the board:
- Most explosive, versatile prospect – WR/CB Travis Hunter
- Best edge rusher, predicted to be most impactful player early – DE Abdul Carter
- The only other first-round QB, current expectations – QB Shedeur Sanders
- Two impact Michigan defenders at the top of their positions – DT Mason Graham, CB Will Johnson
If Tennessee is locked into Ward, teams interested in moving up with focus on calling Cleveland’s GM Andrew Berry to see if they can get a deal done. As of now, the following teams have a need for a quarterback and select in the top 10 of the year’s draft:
- New York Giants – Pick #3
- Las Vegas Raiders – Pick #6
- New York Jets – Pick #7
- New Orleans Saints – Pick #9
With that many teams likely interested in a quarterback, Berry could find himself with some interesting offers if the Browns decide not to draft Sanders.
What do you think of the continued Ward to the Titans rumors? Do you want the Browns to draft Sanders or move down with one of those four teams?
