There is a lot of work for the Browns as the offseason clock begins to tick
The large contingent from the Cleveland Browns will return from the Senior Bowl to their offices in Berea this week. The team will begin building its first draft board fresh off of getting an up-close look at many prospects.
The Super Bowl is exactly one week from now, and believe it or not, we will be less than a month away from free agency starting by the time the winner has their parade. Now is a good time to check in on the offseason calendar to see what’s coming up for the Browns over the next few months.
Feb. 18-March 4: NFL teams can designate Franchise or Transition Players until 4 p.m. ET on March 4th. While the Browns aren’t likely to tag anyone, there are players that Cleveland may hope to sign during free agency who could be tagged by other teams.
Feb. 24-March 3: The NFL Scouting Combine will take place in Indianapolis. The week-long event will draw coaches and personnel executives from all thirty-two teams as they analyze players in great detail.
March 10-12: The NFL’s legal tampering period begins for players who are set to hit free agency. During this two-day negotiation window, teams are allowed to negotiate with player’s agents. Deals will begin to be announced minutes after the period begins.
March 12: The new league year and the free agency signing period officially begins on March 12 at 4 p.m. ET. Free agent signings can now become official, and trades can be executed once again.
April 21: The Browns are eligible to begin their offseason program. (OTA’s)
April 24-26: The 2025 NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
With the Browns having a first-round pick near the top of the draft, we know everyone is looking forward to that most. However, the combine will give us more information and rumors to digest ahead of free agency.
