NFL free agency is months away but the NFL playoffs are rolling so a few free agents Browns fans should watch
The Cleveland Browns saw their season end weeks ago while eight teams have moved on to the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs kicking off on Saturday. We have started our preparations for the offseason in a variety of ways including looking ahead to the Browns schedule and games that might be exciting to attend, Deion Sanders potentially impacting where Shedeur Sanders is drafted and a look at some high-end free agents that could change the team in 2025.
The likely end to the Deshaun Watson era has allowed Cleveland fans to reengage with the team they have had so much passion for. Having the second pick in the 2025 NFL draft and a lot of rollover cap to manipulate the salary cap is helpful for fans as well.
In free agency we started looking at all of the teams in the playoffs and what pending free agents they have. So far we have covered:
- Chargers vs Texans
- Ravens vs Steelers
- Bills vs Broncos
- Packers vs Eagles
- Bucs vs Commanders
- Vikings vs Rams
Now, we need to take a look at the two teams that earned the bye during the Wild Card round starting with the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs who face the Houston Texans at 4:30 PM Saturday:
Chiefs Free Agents
- S Justin Reid
Most Browns fans will be out on Reid after Juan Thornhill has been mostly a bust but Reid is a talented player that can help next to Grant Delpit.
- LB Nick Bolton
We have had a lot of linebackers on this list and Bolton should be among the top. At just 25, he’s taken on a lot of leadership for a great Kansas City defense.
- DT Tershawn Warton
A young player who saw his snaps shoot up this year and he produced a career-high 6.5 sacks, 11 QB hits and seven tackles for loss.
- WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
Not going to be a popular name for Cleveland fans but Smith-Schuster has been a solid slot receiver with good blocking prowess for a few years.
- RB Kareem Hunt
I don’t think Hunt will return nor do I think he has a lot left in the tank as far as explosiveness but a goal line back who loves the city can’t be denied which is why we had him on our list of former Browns that could return.
You can peruse all the pending free agents at Over the Cap.
Do any of the above options look like helpful fits for the 2025 Browns?
