NFL free agency is months away but the NFL playoffs are rolling so a few free agents Browns fans should watch
For the Cleveland Browns, any comparison to the 14 teams that made the NFL playoffs this year is quite silly. The Browns 2024 season was abysmal but that doesn’t mean their future is going to be a failure as well. There are some clear needs on the roster but we don’t know if Cleveland GM Andrew Berry agrees or how (NFL draft or NFL free agency) the team will look to address those needs.
The expectation that QB Deshaun Watson has seen his last snap as a member of the team has seemed to help Browns fans engage more with what is going on with their team. The firing of OC Ken Dorsey and OL coach Andy Dickerson was also helpful to creating hope.
Who knows what it will take for the Browns to return to the NFL playoffs and, hopefully, get back to competing for a chance at the Super Bowl. Right now, being a Cleveland and Ohio State fan has just one disappointing team.
No matter what they decide to do with the second-overall pick, free agency will have to be a part of the process so we started looking at all of the teams in the playoffs and what pending free agents they have.
So far we have covered:
Now on to the finale game Sunday’s slate of games, this time the 8:00 PM kickoff between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Commanders.
Commanders Free Agents
- LB Bobby Wagner
If Cleveland wants a leader in the middle of their defense, Wagner provides that despite being 35 already. Tough to see him leaving Dan Quinn but he could be looking for another challenge.
- S/LB Jeremy Chinn
This is an addition because we are so unsure of what is going on with Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Chinn can fill a similar role as JOK.
- WR Dyami Brown
A third-round pick in 2021, Brown hasn’t had huge numbers but would help the Browns in a bigger role as their new slot receiver.
Bucs Free Agents
- WR Chris Godwin
A great receiver who once again will be returning from injury. Godwin could be a buy-low, incentive contract-style player for one season. In just seven games this year, Godwin had 50 catches, 576 yards and five touchdowns.
- LB KJ Britt
Another young player coming off of his rookie contract, Britt saw his defensive snaps shoot up in 2024 and he was productive with them.
- DE Anthony Nelson
Not a huge name or a huge sack player, Nelson provides solid depth at defensive end where the Browns roster could use another veteran in 2025.

Do any of the above options look like helpful fits for the 2025 Browns?
