We all love Browns running back Nick Chubb. He’s been a great player since the Dawgs drafted him in 2018. The man is only 28 years old and the initial thought would be that’s pretty young even for a football player. However, in running back years it’s a bit different.
Unfortunately, one of the hardest parts of sports is the fact that your biggest responsibility is to stay healthy. Now, take a look at Chubb’s injuries so far in Cleveland via DraftSharks:
Yes, this past Sunday, Chubb broke his foot and the weirdest part is that it appeared to take place with him simply running (non-contact). So, It’s not as if some giant lineman fell on his leg and caused the fracture. That would be more understandable.
For this season, does the Chubb injury really matter? Of course not.
The Browns suck at 3-11 currently. The team has only three games left in the season and honestly probably wants to subsequently tank those games anyway to get a better draft pick. But this is where the issues come…
Let me put this in perspective. So I have epilepsy and don’t drive because of it. Why not? Well, I can’t be trusted behind the wheel in the brief moment of a seizure happening. So what do my seizures have to do with Nick Chubb? I mean, I wish I could be an amazing NFL running back.
Well, Chubb can’t be trusted either. This is in the sense of staying healthy for an entire season. And if that happens and the Browns were to make the playoffs, what about his ability to play even longer than a full regular season? Plus, the fact that the running back now has to recover the entire offseason with this broken foot.
Is Nick Chubb likely to retire now?
Probably not. S
Should a doctor or loved one advise him to? Well, these injuries keep mounting and the recovery is bad. Then, simply thinking about the future and dealing with a battered body…ouch.
Let me once again point out my love for Nick Chubb.
Not only a great running back but a great guy with a great attitude and so much more. So please don’t think I’m trying to bash a man who is nothing but the art of respect. It’s more so the truth that hurts. I know it with my issues and I’m sure you do too…
In eight games this year, Chubb has rushed for 332 yards (102 carries) in a pedestrian 3.3 average and only three touchdowns.
It’s yet again another waiting game with Chubb. Seeing his recovery, what his ability is even after the break and what he brings to the Browns in the future.
ALSO, just a reminder to all that love Chubb is he is a free agent and despite his claims of wanting to stay in Cleveland… Well, you never know…
Get well soon, Nick.
