The move to DTR may be more permanent than some expected due to injury
The Cleveland Browns look to either salvage a season split in the Battle of Ohio in Week 16 or continue to build up their draft position with a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals today. While the Kirk Cousins rumors will swirl, the Browns switch from Jameis Winston to Dorian Thompson-Robinson as starter begins today.
Whether DTR has a role on the team moving forward is one of three important decisions Cleveland will be making as the season draws to an end.
With Winston benched it was interesting to see him on the injury report this week with a right shoulder issue leaving him questionable for Browns versus Bengals in Week 16. According to a report Sunday morning, Winston will be inactive as the team’s emergency QB today:
#Browns QB Jameis Winston, who didn’t practice much this week because of a shoulder injury, is likely to be the third (emergency) QB tomorrow, source said.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start, and Bailey Zappe would be the backup.

Bailey Zappe has not played in a game this season after starting the final six games of 2023 with the New England Patriots. Zappe spent the first half of the season on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.
