Holding the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns could target the best player available in Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter. However, Carter is still recovering from a shoulder injury and will not test at the NFL combine this week.
There is a massive debate whether the Browns should reach on a quarterback like Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, or if they should take the best player available. Colorado’s Heisman-winner Travis Hunter and Carter fit the bill in this regard.
The Browns, while they can meet with Carter, will not get to see his athletic prowess take to the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium. Just like every other Penn State before him, Carter was expected to test as one of the top athletes in Indianapolis this week.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has released the following statement:
“We fully expect Abdul to be recovered in time to work out at his pro day at Penn State and he will perform at a very high level”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is also reporting that Rosenhaus and Carter are sending a letter to NFL teams, clearing Carter’s shoulder of any long-term effect. Carter has now been cleared to return to activities and will be cleared to perform at his pro day at the end of March.
The Browns will be watching closely.
