Week 8’s AFC North matchup could be great impacted by Zay Flowers’ availability
The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens go into their Week 8 matchup Sunday at less than 100%. While the Browns are trying to salvage something meaningful out of the 2024 NFL season with Jameis Winston stepping in as the starter and Ken Dorsey taking over play calling, the Ravens are looking to keep their momentum going.
Friday, Cleveland ruled out four players:
- OL Jedrick Wills
- LB Jordan Hicks
- RB Jerome Ford
- S Ronnie Hickman
The big question for Week 8’s AFC North matchup was WR Zay Flowers. Baltimore ruled out three on Friday then added CB Nate Wiggins to the list on Saturday:
- RB Rahseen Ali
- RB Keaton Mitchell
- CB TJ Tampa (Since placed on injured reserve)
The Ravens are also unlikely to have their other starting cornerback, Marlon Humphrey, who is doubtful for the game.
With Flowers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported late Saturday night that he would play:
Ravens WR Zay Flowers, listed as questionable for Sunday due to an ankle injury, is expected to play vs. the Browns, per source.

A few hours later, but now on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the team would evaluate Flowers during a pregame workout:
#Ravens WR Zay Flowers, who only practiced once this week while dealing with an ankle injury, will have a pre-game workout to determine his status, sources say.
While Flowers is pushing and hoping to play, nothing will be sure until the workout.

The Browns need every benefit possible to potentially pull off the upset even if fans are split on whether the team should tank or not. With or without Flowers, Baltimore has a lot of firepower on the offensive side of the ball.
We are unlikely to have any more information on Flowers before the inactive reports come out around 11:30 Sunday morning.
