The Denver Broncos are officially entering a new era under head coach Sean Payton.
Moments ago, the Broncos agreed to trade Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to break the news.
“Broncos and Browns agreed to a deal today that will send WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in exchange for two draft picks, sources tell ESPN,” Schefter wrote. “Cleveland made a run at Jeudy at last season’s trade deadline. Now the Browns finally will get him once trade is processed this week.”
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Browns are sending a 2024 fifth-round pick and 2024 sixth-round pick to Denver in exchange for Jeudy.
The Broncos selected Jeudy in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, he has hauled in 211 passes for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns.
On paper, Jeudy should form a nice duo with Amari Cooper in Cleveland. Of course, you never really know how a player will respond to a new system.
As for the Broncos, it’s pretty evident they’re moving on from their expensive veterans. Earlier this week, they announced that Russell Wilson would be released once the new league year begins. They also cut All-Pro safety Justin Simmons.
Now that Jeudy is gone, the Broncos will have to address their receiving corps either in free agency or the draft.
