QBs Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, along with Travis Hunter, a couple of defenders lead the NFL draft prospects
At this point last year, we all but knew that the Chicago Bears would be taking QB Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. At this point this year, we know very little. We’ve heard that the Tennessee Titans “love” QB Cam Ward but they just fired their general manager days after that rumor leaked.
With the second overall pick, the Cleveland Browns must wait for what the Titans do at the top unless they make the expensive trade to get the first overall pick. The Browns also have to comb through offensive coordinator options to help settle into the transition back to HC Kevin Stefanski’s system.
That means anything we hear, whether rumors or reports, at this point can be taken with a grain a salt. It is a heftier grain of salt when a report with the experience of Diana Russini says it:
Dianna Russini on the Browns’ draft plans on @LeBatardShow: “They’re going quarterback. They see what we see. It’s just not a mystery. This is not like they’re psyched about Deshaun Watson’s ability, leadership, play. They know this isn’t great.” pic.twitter.com/9r8uvSZQaS

“They’re going quarterback.” Either Russini is very confident of her information based on sources or, as we hear following that statement, she is connecting the dots everyone else is.
With the Titans likely locked into a quarterback at the top of the draft, it only benefits the Browns to make everyone believe that they are as well. Either they take the second quarterback off the board or they drive up the price for a team that wants to trade up.
We will continue to keep you up to date with all credible reporting and rumors surrounding Cleveland’s offseason. We are just a few days in and it already seems like we will have a lot to cover as we go.
What do you think of Russini’s report/rumor? Is it a certainty that they take a quarterback or more that they should because the need is great?
