The latest Cleveland Browns news and notes from around the NFL in the Saturday Dawg Chow.
It has been a busy week as the NFL world focused its attention on Indianapolis for the annual Scouting Combine.
Dawgs By Nature has been at the epicenter with Jarred Mueller on site to capture the latest news as it pertains to the Cleveland Browns, including quarterback draft rumors, what head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry had to say during their media appearances, and more.
Today brings the quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers to the forefront as those position groups go through their on-field workouts. Even though Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders will not be throwing today, there will still be plenty of eyes on the quarterback draft class as it goes through the paces.
While we wait for the festivities to jump off, let’s open the day with the latest edition of the Saturday Dawg Chow.
Dawgs By Nature:
- QB Jalen Milroe loves idea of joining Browns, ‘not trying to be a savior’ (Jared Mueller) – Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was asked about meeting with the Cleveland Browns at the NFL combine and his thoughts on coming to Cleveland and “seizing the opportunity” but doesn’t seem to see himself as a hero.
- What do some of the top QBs bring to the table in the draft? (Thomas Moore) – Cleveland needs a new QB and here is what some of the top players at the position had to say on Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
- Kirk Cousins to the Browns seems inevitable (Curtiss Brown) – Earlier this week at the NFL Scouting Combine, Atlanta Falcons GM Terry Fontenot said the team is looking forward to having Kirk Cousins on the team and they will pay him his roster bonus in the coming weeks. Very few believe it.
- NFL draft safety prospect puts on a show, sets historic mark (Jared Mueller) – Nick Emmanwori exploded on the field and could see a huge rise in stock toward the NFL draft.
Cleveland Browns:
- Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart: 5 things to know about 2025 NFL draft prospect (Beacon Journal) – Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has been a prominent name in the pre-draft process this year. Dart was one of the first quarterbacks to speak at the NFL combine on Friday. While many of the questions were about specific teams he’s talked to, he also shed some light into both the player and the person he is.
- Shedeur Sanders echoes Baker Mayfield’s NFL Combine script on vowing what he can do for the Browns (cleveland.com) – Six years after Baker Mayfield stepped up to the podium and planted his flag at the Scouting Combine, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders ripped a page from the Mayfield Combine playbook and made a similar promise about the Browns, who are coming off a 3-14 season.
- Shedeur Sanders confident he can turn around Browns; Cam Ward knows ‘it’ll work out good’ if drafted by Cleveland (Browns Zone) – Shedeur Sanders isn’t intimidated. Not by the 3-14 record in 2024. Or Myles Garrett asking to be traded. Or the list of failed starting quarterbacks since 1999 that can’t fit on a jersey. Sanders didn’t hesitate when asked why he could be the quarterback to turn around things for the Browns, who’ve won one playoff game since 1995.
NFL:
- Isaiah Bond says he’ll break Xavier Worthy’s record time at combine (ESPN) – If Isaiah Bond is correct, Xavier Worthy’s record 40-yard dash time at the NFL scouting combine will last just one season but remain with Texas.
- Matthew Stafford isn’t going anywhere: QB agrees to restructured Rams contract (Los Angeles Times) – Matthew Stafford is a master at leading comebacks. And, after much offseason uncertainty, the Rams’ star quarterback is staying with the team he led to a Super Bowl title and three playoff appearances in four years.
- Small locker rooms, stinky bathrooms, and old team planes: All the important details from the NFLPA’s annual player survey (The Ringer) – The Tennessee Titans love their new family affairs director, the Philadelphia Eagles wish the team’s business staff would stop hogging the tables in the cafeteria, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of a few NFL teams that seem to be putting their locker room plumbing through an ordeal. These are all findings included in the NFL Players Association’s annual player survey, which was released this week.
