The latest Cleveland Browns news and notes from around the NFL in the Saturday Dawg Chow.
The Cleveland Browns made some picks Friday night in the second and third rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Were they good picks? Time will tell. But if you like defense, two-down running backs, and tight ends from the MAC, then you enjoyed the evening. (We’re still warming up to what has taken place so far.)
The draft continues today at noon, so we’ll see what the Browns have in store for everyone.
Until then, let’s kick off the day with the latest edition of the Saturday Dawg Chow.
Dawgs By Nature:
- 2025 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns pick TE Harold Fannin Jr. at No. 67 (Thomas Moore) – Cleveland stays in state by selecting productive pass catcher from Bowling Green.
- 2025 NFL draft: Browns pass on Shedeur Sanders to select QB Dillon Gabriel at No. 94 (Chris Pokorny) – A shocking decision both in passing on Sanders and selecting Gabriel as well.
- Browns NFL draft: RB Quinshon Judkins brings offense an athletic focal point (Jared Mueller) – With RB Nick Chubb still a free agent, Cleveland’s front office found his long-term replacement in Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins.

- Browns NFL Draft: LB Carson Schwesinger profiles as versatile, fast defender (Matt Wilson) – The Cleveland Browns selected UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger with the No. 33 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Schwesinger was a “zero star” recruit coming out of high school but the former walk-on showed how many schools made mistakes on him since then.
- 2025 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns pick LB Carson Schwesinger at No. 33 (Chris Pokorny) – With the No. 33 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft to kick off the second round, the Cleveland Browns selected LB Carson Schwesinger (6-2, 225 lbs) from UCLA.
- The trade for Za’Darius Smith is coming into focus (Rohan Chakravarthi) – The Browns traded Za’Darius Smith last year, and the compensation of that deal rounded into form at the 2025 NFL Draft.

- Browns NFL Draft: Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel brings dual-threat ability to the QB room (Matt Wilson) – The Cleveland Browns selected Dillon Gabriel with the 94th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Gabriel was one of the most productive quarterbacks in college football over the past six seasons.
Cleveland Browns:
- How to rate the Browns’ moves in the second round? (Terry Pluto) – I love how the Browns resisted the temptation to take a quarterback at the top of the second round. The Browns were 3-14 last season. Their roster is older. It’s expensive. A significant overhaul is in order.
- Browns can frame it however they want. NFL draft trade stems from Deshaun Watson (Beacon Journal) – The dead horse representing the vast ripple effect of the Deshaun Watson trade has been severely beaten. Heck, by now, it’s probably some sort of zombie you’ll see galloping through an episode of “The Last of Us.” Well, in classic Browns fashion, here we go again.
- Mason Graham eager to team up with Myles Garrett, elevate Browns defense (cleveland.com) – Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham made it a priority to return one text on Thursday night after he was selected fifth overall: Myles Garrett’s.
- NFL Draft: Browns take UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger, OSU RB Quinshon Judkins in 2nd round (Browns Zone) – The Browns stayed put Friday night and made both their picks at the top of the second round of the NFL Draft. They took UCLA linebacker Carson Schwesinger at No. 33, then Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins at No. 36.
NFL:
- What the Jaxson Dart pick means for Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen (ESPN) – The New York Giants selected Penn State star Abdul Carter with the third overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night. Who knows, Carter could be their next Lawrence Taylor, a pass-rushing menace who headlines the defense for years to come. It still wasn’t the main headline for the Giants. That belonged to quarterback Jaxson Dart, the player they traded up to take with the No. 25 overall pick.
- The Saints have their answer to their quarterback question in Louisville’s Tyler Shough (nola.com) – When news broke in early April that Derek Carr’s 2025 season may be in jeopardy because of an injury to his shoulder, the New Orleans Saints suddenly became a destination for quarterback draft prospects. The Saints put an end to the speculation about their future at quarterback early Friday night when they selected Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough with the No. 40 overall pick.
- Wideout and brother he lost in New Year’s attack are ‘two-for-one’ draft special (Washington Post) – TCU’s Jack Bech says the memory of Tiger Bech, who died in the pickup truck rampage in New Orleans, is his “superpower” for an NFL career.
- NFL and Nike Launch Rivalries Program with New Uniforms and Fan Gear Inspired by Communities (NFL.com) – Nike and the National Football League are announcing Rivalries, a new and exciting uniform and fan gear program that will give athletes and fans an opportunity to connect like never before. The program will elevate NFL rivalry games over the next four seasons, with specially designed Nike uniforms and fan gear. Rivalries will drive fan engagement by celebrating storied traditions and uniting communities with unique and elevated product designs.
