The latest Cleveland Browns news and notes from around the NFL in the Sunday Dawg Chow.
That’s all there is. There is no more.
The Cleveland Browns closed out their 2024 regular season on Saturday night and the result was the same: the Browns dropped the game to end the season at 3-14.
It is just the fourth time in franchise history that the Browns suffered this many losses in a season, joining the 1999 expansion team (2-14), the 2016 team (1-15 thanks to Jamie Meder), and the infamous 2017 team that went 0-16.
Now there is nothing to do but wait. Wait for the results of today’s games involving the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans to see where the Browns pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Wait to see which coaches will no longer be welcome at team HQ in Berea. And wait to see what the offseason brings in free agency.
Browns enter today holding the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If they lose today at Baltimore, they will lock in a top-3 pick in the draft, and could potentially even pick as high as No. 1.

It was a long, frustrating, and disappointing season, and the best part is that it is done as everyone involved needs some time away from the mess that took place over the past four months.
Let’s prepare for the final regular-season Sunday of NFL football with the latest edition of the Sunday Dawg Chow.
Dawgs By Nature:
- Browns vs. Ravens recap: Baltimore covers spread, beats Cleveland 35-10, ending the regular season (Chris Pokorny) – The Cleveland Browns’ 2024 season is mercifully over, losing to the Baltimore Ravens in their season finale by a score of 35-10.
- Browns, Ravens Winners & Losers: Week 18 loss exemplifies season, lot of blame to go around (Barry Shuck) – The Cleveland Browns season is finally over. What a ride this year. Disappointment? Frustrating? Embarrassment? How about all of the above?
- Browns vs Ravens: Final exam produces ugly grades in Week 18 (Damon Wolfe) – The Browns end the year with another loss against the Ravens and their Week 18 grades back that up
- Mike Hall injured against Ravens, carted off field (Jared Mueller) – Cleveland Browns first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft was hurt while engaged with the Baltimore Ravens offensive line.
- NFL draft order: Browns lock in a top spot with Week 18 loss to Ravens (Jared Mueller) – With just 2 games in Week 18 left that matter, the NFL draft order will include the Browns near the top
- Browns Roster: Predicting who’ll be re-signed/extended at LB and DB (Matt Wilson) – For our final installment in the series of trying to predict who the Cleveland Browns will re-sign/extend amongst their pending free agents, we take a look at linebacker and defensive back.
- Browns QB problem: 3 younger, more realistic trade options that could be solutions (Damon Wolfe) – Hendon Hooker, Malik Willis are not big names but the Cleveland Browns need help to compete with Deshaun Watson.
- Mike Vrabel has first head coaching interview since Browns departure (Barry Shuck) – On Friday, the New York Jets interviewed former Cleveland Browns’ coaching and personnel consultant Mike Vrabel for their head coaching position, as announced by the Jets.
Cleveland Browns:
- Why Kirk Cousins could be an option for the Browns in 2025 (cleveland.com) – As the Cleveland Browns close out the dismal 2024 season here and look ahead to the future, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, benched two games ago in favor of No. 8 overall draft pick Michael Penix, could be one option for their upgraded quarterback room in 2025.
- Why are the Browns sticking with Andrew Berry & Kevin Stefanski? (Terry Pluto) – Browns GM Andrew Berry is 37. Coach Kevin Stefanski is 43. In 2025, they are heading into their sixth season together with the Browns. In the past when seasons fell apart, coaches and the front office clashed. But the 2024 season was different.
- Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson makes NFL history against the Browns (Beacon Journal) – It will be the answer to a trivia question someday: “When Lamar Jackson became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 4,000 yards and rush for 800 yards, which team did it come against?”
NFL:
- Please jump: Inside the phony world of NFL hard counts (Washington Post) – The hard count is the NFL’s fleeting open-mic moment, which can turn quarterbacks into comics and defenders into the butt of the joke.
- Is Aidan O’Connell upending the Raiders’ NFL draft plans? (ESPN) – Aidan O’Connell has seen this movie before. In fact, he starred in it. So forgive the second-year quarterback if déjà vu has him feeling a certain way, as O’Connell and the Las Vegas Raiders head into Sunday’s season finale against the playoff-bound Los Angeles Chargers, who are playing their best football of the season.
- Niners QB Joshua Dobbs ready for ‘audition’ in season finale vs. Cardinals (NFL.com) – With starting quarterback Brock Purdy dealing with an elbow injury, Joshua Dobbs is set to make his first start of the 2024 season in San Francisco’s season-finale against the Arizona Cardinals. It’s an opportunity that the San Francisco 49ers journeyman QB is looking to take advantage of on Sunday.
