Cleveland needs a new QB and here is what some of the top players at the position had to say on Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
The Cleveland Browns are in prime position to select a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Even though the Tennessee Titans are expected to pick a quarterback with the No. 1 overall selection, or trade the pick to another quarterback-needy team, the Browns can still take their shot at fixing the franchise’s biggest pain point either with the No. 2 overall pick or by using a combination of their eight other selections to maneuver into position to take a quarterback later in the first round.

At the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday, it was the quarterbacks’ turn to meet with the media, and here is what some of the top players at the position had to say about what would make them attractive to the Browns.
Cam Ward at the podium talking about his meeting with the Cleveland Browns.
“They do an unbelievable job on offense getting people open. They got an unbelievable offensive line. Jerry Jeudy’s one of the best receivers in the league. So if I’m hoping to go there, I know it’ll… pic.twitter.com/POetgtI2ba

Miami’s Cam Ward likes what he sees from Cleveland’s offense (quote via Browns Zone):
“It went real good being able to meet with the GM, finally meet the quarterback coach in person, the OC as well. They do an unbelievable job on offense getting people open. They’ve got an unbelievable offensive line. Jerry Jeudy’s one of the best receivers in the league, so if I’m hoping to go there, I know it’ll work out good.”
Shedeur Sanders is confident he can turn around the Cleveland Browns.
“If you ain’t trying to change the culture, don’t get with me.” pic.twitter.com/UzKnZUEZt2

Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders said if a franchise like Cleveland is looking to turn around its fortunes, he is the man for the job (quote via Browns Zone):
“Because I’ve done it at two locations already, so it’s simple. If you ain’t trying to change the franchise or the culture, don’t get me. So you should know, history repeats itself over and over and over and I’ve done it over and over and over. So it should be no question.”

Mississippi’s Jaxson Dart said that dealing with adversity in college has him prepared to do the same at the NFL level (quote via cleveland.com):
“I think that my whole college career has really developed me for this situation. Like I said, just being able to find my identity, having to change places at such an early age and move across the country, and being ingrained in an offense as a 17-year-old kid. I don’t think a lot of people talk about that, but I’m the youngest quarterback in this draft class. And at the same time, I’ve had a ton of experience. So I think that my time throughout my whole college career has really put me in a good situation now of being able to overcome adversity and staying persistent.”
Jalen Milroe likes being an underdog. His ability to throw and run is “something you can’t coach” and he’s heard a few Lamar Jackson comparisons … pic.twitter.com/yaIv6z6HG8

Alabama’s Jalen Milroe is not afraid of the challenge of turning around one of the league’s worst quarterback rooms (quote via The Beacon Journal):
“I’m not someone to try to be a savior. I’m someone that’s just trying to better a program as a whole. And so it’s all about opportunity. And I would love to seize that opportunity as well and grow as a player. The biggest thing as a player would be better than you were the day before and try to strive for greatness. Climbing a mountain ain’t easy, but when you get to the top of the mountain you’ll learn so many things when it comes to adversity, when it comes to hardship, things along the way.”
This wasn’t the answer we were expecting….
When asked what is the strongest aspect of his game, Quinn Ewers didn’t cite his arm strength, but his resiliency
“You have to have that mental toughness and that’s where I think an edge over most people”#Texas | #HookEm pic.twitter.com/L4c7u0PB99

Texas’ Quinn Ewers said his time with the Longhorns provided the mental toughness needed for the NFL (quote via ESPN):
“A lot of guys don’t really take mental into it, and I think that it’s one of the most important things you got and mine might be a little underrated. I went through a lot in my career at Texas, whether that be injuries or other things like that, but I think that I wouldn’t trade anything because it made me who I am today. It built my character to where I am today. If anything does happen in the future to the extent that it happened there, then I’m ready for it and how to attack it.”
It all sounds good and there is no doubt that each player believes they have what it takes to succeed. But nothing they went through in college prepared them for what goes on in Cleveland regarding the quarterback position, so hopefully whoever the Browns end up selecting comes in with eyes wide open about everything the job entails.
