The Cleveland Browns are out of sync this season. Their offense has been abysmal. Defense can only do so much. Do the Browns need to find a new leader on the sidelines?
What if we consider having Bill Belichick coach the Browns for a second time?
Belichick was the Browns’ head coach from 1991 to 1995. He took them to the playoffs in 1994. The Browns lost to Bill Parcells and the New England Patriots in the wild card round. As we know, Parcells and Belichick have a lot of history together.
Belichick’s record as the Browns head coach was 36-44. Of course, Belichick went on to have success with the Patriots and won six Super Bowls—he is the most successful head coach in NFL history.
It would be an interesting idea to bring Belichick back to coaching and come to Cleveland for a much better second tenure. His leadership and tremendous IQ can bring out the best in any quarterback. In addition, he’s a defensive-minded coach and the Browns already have a good defensive team. With Belichick, it will take them to another level.
He was a defensive coordinator for the New York Giants and won two Super Bowls in 1987 and 1991. Belichick can bring Matt Patricia with him to Cleveland.
Patricia was the Patriots’ defensive coordinator from 2012 to 2017 and the team’s offensive play-caller in 2022. Belichick and Patricia won three Super Bowls together.
The idea of having them both in Cleveland is a long shot, especially since they look like they are having fun making content for the Belichick Show on YouTube.
Teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars or Atlanta Falcons could make phone calls to land him. Cleveland needs to join the party and come up with an excellent pitch.
If there are any plans that Belichick would entertain to coach again, he should consider choosing Cleveland. Belichick has unfinished business after getting fired in 1996. The city is hungry for a parade.
