After an abysmal 3-14 season in 2024 that left plenty of turmoil behind not only at the quarterback position but also with star pass rusher Myles Garrett, the Browns have countless pieces to pick up.
While NFL free agency will be the first step in an attempt to do so, the Browns have to be able to hit on numerous rookies in the NFL draft to have significant contributors on rookie contracts as they navigate the messiness of the divorce with quarterback Deshaun Watson.
So when is the NFL combine and what should Browns fans keep an eye on? We’ve got you covered.
When does 2025 NFL combine start?
The NFL Combine starts Sunday, Feb. 24 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Player workouts begin Thursday, Feb. 27 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Browns NFL draft needs
The Browns enter the 2025 NFL draft and NFL combine with a flurry of needs that could also include a massive hole at edge rusher if they opt to trade Myles Garrett. Here are some of the Browns’ biggest needs entering the combine:
- Quarterback
- EDGE rusher
- Offensive tackle
- Running back
- Center
- Defensive tackle
- Safety
NFL draft prospects Browns fans should watch at combine
All eyes should be on Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, the top two quarterbacks in the class. However, it is still to be seen if the two will even put any on-field work together in Indianapolis.
Running backs Kaleb Johnson from Iowa, Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson, North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton, and more also deserve eyes. If the Browns opt to trade down out of the No. 2 overall pick wide receivers Luther Burden III and Tetairoa McMillan may be targets.
Offensive tackle will not be the priority with the No. 2 overall pick, but if Joshua Simmons from Ohio State falls because of a knee injury, or his teammate Donovan Jackson is on the board at pick No. 33, then they would be stellar adds. Oregon’s Josh Conerly is a trade-up candidate into the back of the first round.
On the defensive side of the ball, Penn State and Texas A&M edge rushers Abdul Carter and Shemar Stewart are the cream of the crop. Other edge rushers to watch include Marshall’s Mike Green, Texas A&M’s Nic Scourton, and more.
At defensive tackle, Michigan’s Mason Graham will draw all of the attention, but Oregon’s Derrick Harmon, Ohio State’s Tyleik Williams, and Maryland’s Jordan Phillips are all Day 2 targets worth watching (Harmon and Williams could sneak into the back half of round one).
