But nobody left a bigger mark than point guard Darius Garland — the one-time All-Star whose miserable 2023-24 season led to countless fans turning on him, some even urging the front office to explore offseason trades. “My head is free,” Garland said pointedly following the 116-114 victory. “I’m playing freely. Confidence is super high. Teammates got my back. That is just going to make me keep going even harder. I really appreciate my teammates and my coaching staff for sure, just keeping my confidence super high, just keeping my head level and just telling me to be me. That’s what I’m trying to do for the rest of the season.”
