The Cleveland Cavaliers have taken a step forward, and then some this season. They won a combined 99 games in the previous two years but only won one playoff series. This year, it would be quite surprising if they didn’t win, at minimum, two series in the postseason. The 2024-25 Cavaliers have been dominant and now have a win streak of 15 games. That is the second time this season they have done so, and it had been a while since a team had accomplished that multiple times in one season.

Cavaliers Now Have A Win Streak Of 15 Games After Tuesday
On Tuesday, the Cavaliers had a closer-than-expected outing against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. Trailing Brooklyn by eight entering the fourth quarter, Cleveland outscored the Nets 31-18 over the final 12 minutes, with 18 of those points courtesy of Darius Garland. He stepped up when needed as Donovan Mitchell sat out the contest. The win improved the Cavaliers record to an NBA-best 55-10 and also now gives them a 15-game winning streak.
It has now been well over a month since Cleveland last lost a game. It came all the way back on February 4, when they fell to the Boston Celtics by the score of 112-105. About 3.5 weeks later on February 28, they were able to avenge that loss with a 123-116 victory over Boston.
A 15-game winning streak is certainly impressive. It’s only been accomplished by a team three times this season. The Oklahoma City Thunder also have done so, and now the Cavaliers have experienced two 15-game win streaks in the same season. They also got off to a 15-0 start to begin the season before finally experiencing their first loss on November 19 (again to the Celtics). They again avenged that loss by beating Boston 12 days later.
Cleveland holds a two-game lead over the Thunder for the best record in the NBA. They also have become the first team with multiple win streaks of at least 15 games in nearly two decades.
Suns Were Last Team To Do So In 2006-07
It was 18 seasons ago when a team was able to earn two winning streaks of at least 15 games within the same season. That was accomplished by the 2006-07 Phoenix Suns, who were led by head coach Mike D’Antoni. That team also featured Basketball Hall of Famer Steve Nash as well as Amar’e Stoudemire and Shawn Marion.

On the year, Phoenix went 61-21. The Suns were able to win 15 straight from November 20 until December 19. They later had a 17-game winning streak from December 29 until January 28. Unfortunately for Phoenix, they weren’t able to parlay those regular season streaks into postseason success. They lost in six games in the Western Conference Semifinals to the eventual NBA champion San Antonio Spurs.
The Cavaliers are hopeful they can get further in the postseason than that Phoenix team was able to. In the meantime, they will try to set a franchise record with their 16th straight win. Cleveland’s next game is on the road Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
